The city park of Antwerp

The city park of Antwerp is not big but very cosy. Many old trees create nice quiet atmosphere. Yong people can play soccer here. Older people enjoy reading newspapers and books. There are a lot of rabits, ducks and white and black swans. It is really surprising how they can survive in the middle of such a busy and noisy city.

Zypendaal and Sonsbeek parks

The Zypendaal park is situated not far from the center of Arnhem (Gelderland, Netherland). The park is hilly and wooded with old trees and meadows. Through the park runs the St. Jansbeek river , which forms in some places little ponds.
The Sonsbeek park is lying to the south of Zypendaal park. There are also many ponds and brooks, where numerous herons, ducks and swans feel at ease.
These two parks and a few other parks make Arnhem one of the most beautiful cities in the Netherlands.

Forest-Park, Haan, Germany

There are places where the boundary between the park and the city is missing: either park in the city, or town in the park?
How, for example, in the small town of Haan, which is twenty kilometers from Dusseldorf. Houses delicately intrude into the landscape, trying not to disturb the forest variety. Only bright spots of flowers and playgrounds forced to call the forest park.

Chelyabinsk, Russia

Park named after Yuri Gagarin, Chelyabinsk, Russia

One might say the industrial city Chelyabinsk is lucky, it is surrounded by the numerous lakes and the forests, many of which became parks. The park named after Yuri Gagarin, first cosmonaut, is one of the most favorite parks of townspeople. The total area of park makes up 1200 hectare.  Practically there is no boundary between the city and the park; park is inalienable part of the city.

chelyabinsk-park-baskakov13 In the park there are many quarries. Once they were used to extract stones for buildings. The main stone is granite. Some quarries, until now, remain “wild”.  On the park paths you can see people on the bicycles, the rollers, and even on the horses, while on the narrow paths they prefer to walk on foot. In winter main entertainment is skiing. The dear place for the families to enjoy skiing are small hills called ‘’Monks’’.  From one side of the park  the Shershnevskoe water reservoir is located. In summer time townspeople bathe and become sunburnt here, in winter it is a favorite place for fishermen.  Many urban events are conducted on the territory of park. The Day of harvest  is a kind of Ecological festival. It is held in autumn, and everything which is represented on it, is grown by people living in Chelyabinsk.

Parks and forests of Germany

Forests in Germany don’t look like the forests in Russia. German forest is nearly the park, well maintained and clean. In this forest you will not find any dry twig or a fallen tree. Dried parts of trees are neatly stacked in piles covered with polyethylene. Such an exemplary state of forests is directly linked to issues of ownership: the majority of forest lands is private property. Wood does not bring much revenue, but brings a lot of work and hassle. But being an owner of forest in Germany is prestigious, that is why the forests look as cozy as a lawn in front of a warm house.
